Men's Cross Country Joe Browning

Boseman Leads Seahawks Again At NCAA X-C SE Regionals

Final Men's Results | Final Women's Results

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia –
Sophomore Alex Boseman finished 82nd out of 223 entries to highlight UNCW's results at the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships Friday at scenic Panorama Farms.

The former Millbrook High School (Raleigh, N.C.) standout overcame windy conditions to clock a 31:36 time over the rolling 10k course as the Seahawk men's team finished in 28th place in the 32-team field. Overall, there are 42 teams in the Southeast region.

Louisville captured the men's race with 77 points ahead of host Virginia with 96 points. Virginia Tech's Thomas Curtin came in first individually at 29:07.

"Our men had a solid day," said Interim UNCW Head Coach Layne Schwier. "I'm really happy for Alex since he improved 36 places (118th to 82nd) from last year on a very tough course. Calvin (Daughtry) also had a solid day again and Bryan (Brackney) stepped up for us after having a tough day at the conference meet.

"With two sophomores coming back, we have a good nucleus to build around the next few years."

On the women's side, Virginia took first place with 53 points in front of N.C. State with 74 points. Coastal Carolina's Letitia Saayman snapped the tape first with a time of 20:25.

Schwier said, "Both of our women ran okay. We didn't expect much from them other than the opportunity to get some big meet experience."

The meet was the seventh and final race of the season for the Seahawk teams.
