Seahawks Rolling In Men's Tennis Fall Invitational

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore Xander Veys posted his second straight three-set singles victory and sophomore Andres Torres staved off nine match points as UNCW wrapped up the second day of the 2015 Seahawk Men's Tennis Fall Invitational on Saturday at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Seahawks went 3-1 in doubles and 6-1 in singles on Saturday to push their record to 6-1 in doubles and 11-3 in singles in the weekend affair.
 
Veys, from Mortsel, Belgium, topped Richmond's Alexandre Felisa, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, to improve to 2-0 in the event. Torres, meanwhile, won a third set tiebreak on his 10th match point in a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (5), triumph over UR's Brice Polender.
 
In other singles play on Saturday, sophomore Josh Hublitz fell in three sets to UR's Jonathan Quenard, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 (6).
 
The three-day event wraps up Sunday. The Seahawks will meet doubles teams from Tulane and N.C. State at 9 a.m., followed by singles vs. USC-Upstate at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
