Seahawks Open Play In Men's Tennis Fall Invitational

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW swept all three of its doubles matches and went 5-2 in singles on the opening day of the 2015 Seahawk Men's Tennis Fall Invitational on Friday at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Seahawks began the three-day tournament by posting three easy wins in doubles over former Colonial Athletic Association rival Richmond.
 
In singles, UNCW registered three wins over opponents from Tulane and two over N.C. State foes.
 
Santtu Leskinen rallied from behind to defeat Tulane's Tyler Schick, 6-7 (8), 6-0, 6-2, and sophomore Javier Restrepo breezed past Ian Van Cott of Tulane, 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Xander Veys came back to beat N.C. State's Shoti Meparidze, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, while sophomore Andres Torres stopped Tulane's Eric Wagner, 6-3, 6-1. Second-year player Gianlucca Massa posted the fifth singles victory with a 6-2, 6-1 pounding of N.C. State's Michael Ogden.
 
Action continues early Saturday at 10 a.m. when the Seahawks take on USC Upstate in doubles. The Seahawks then face the Spiders in singles.
