Carolina - Taylor Horan and Matt Dauby had three hits apiece as Virginia
Tech slugged its way past UNCW, 9-0, in an eight-inning, rain-shortened contest
on Saturday at Brooks Field.
The Hokes, who have scored 27 in three games, improved to
3-0 on the season with the win after also beating No. 31 Kent State, 8-1, in
the first game of the day. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 1-1.

On the mound, Devin Burke (1-0) held the Seahawks to a hit
over six shutout innings. He finished with two walks and struck out six.
Jordan Ramsey (0-1) was saddled with the loss after
struggling through 4 and 2/3 innings. Ramsey allowed five runs on five hits,
three walks and three hit batters.
The Seahawks will play two games tomorrow starting with a noon start against Kent State followed by Virginia Tech 30 minutes following the completion of game 1.
