CAA home run king Tyler Molinaro is the lone returning outfielder for the Seahawks, who featured a pair of first-team All-CAA players in Thomas Pope and Andrew Cain graduate. Pope finished among UNCW's all-time leaders in batting average and Cain was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the MLB draft.
Molinaro, a third-team All-CAA selection, belted 16 round trippers in becoming the fourth Seahawk to lead the league in homers. He also knocked in a lineup-leading 48 runs while adding 17 doubles and a triple.
In the mix for the open two spots are sophomore Luke Dunlap, senior Micah Jarrett and freshmen Joe Bertone, along with Josh Abshire and Andy Austin. Dunlap had just six at-bats as a freshman, but made the most of those chances with a home run and a double. Jarrett played in 17 games, including five starts, before a shoulder injury shortened his season. He hit .250 (6-24) with two doubles and a triple and scored seven runs.
Freshman Christian Wolfe and Alex Pernick made strides during the fall adjusting to the game at the collegiate level. Wolfe is a solid defensive player with plus speed. Pernick possesses a strong arm and is another strong defensive outfielder for the Seahawks.
