LYNCHBURG, Virginia - Liberty outscored UNCW, 46-8, in the second half to cruise to an 84-34 victory in collegiate women's basketball action Saturday at the Vines Center.

In the first meeting between the two programs, The Lady Flames improved to 6-3 overall as they won their fourth straight contest. The Seahawks moved to 1-6 on the campaign as they suffered their third consecutive setback.

Senior Tolu Omotola scored a game-high 18 points and classmate Devon Brown added 17 to power a potent Flames attack that finished the game shooting 48.5 (32-of-66) percent from the floor, highlighted by an 11-of-19 (.579) performance from three-point range. Sophomores Reagan Miller and Emily Frazier joined the duo in double figures as they finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman Ashley Rininger pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to power the Lady Flames to a 50-29 advantage on the glass.

Junior Jessica Freeman tallied 13 points for UNCW, who finished the game shooting just 22.2 percent (12-of-54) from the floor, including a 1-for-25 (.040) effort from the field in the second half as the Seahawks went the final 12:26 of the contest without a field goal.

Holding a 38-26 lead at the break, Liberty scored on its first four trips down the floor in the second half to spark a 16-0 run and take a 54-26 lead with 15:54 remaining.

The two sides would trade points over the next three minutes until a jumper by senior Terika Lunsford at the 12:07 mark sparked the Lady Flames to a 25-2 run that would last to the final buzzer and give Liberty the 50-point triumph.

In the first half, a three-pointer by Brown with the Lady Flames trailing 9-7 led Liberty to a 12-2 run and a 19-11 cushion.

A conventional three-point play and a three-pointer by Freeman on back-to-back possessions ended the Lady Flames spurt and pulled the Seahawks within four, 21-17, with 8:09 on the clock.

Liberty would regain control of the contest moments later, however, scoring on three straight possessions to start a 9-2 spurt and take its first double-digit lead of the game, 30-19, with 3:38 left in the first half. The two teams would trade baskets the rest of the way as the Lady Flames took a 38-26 advantage into the halftime break.

UNCW continues its three-game road swing Dec. 18 with a 7 p.m. tip at Xavier. Liberty is back in action Dec. 13 as it hosts Bluefield State in a 7 p.m. contest.
