WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - The AquaHawks return to the pool for the final time this
semester on Dec. 1-2, when UNCW hosts the Seahawk Invitational at the Seahawk
Natatorium.
The invitational will be held in championship format with
preliminaries at 10 a.m. and the day's finals at 4 p.m.
Slated to compete along with the Seahawks are Campbell's
women's swim team along with divers from East Carolina and Richmond.
UNCW's men's team will participate as many of the swimmer
look to improve their top times heading into the spring semester competitions.
The Seahawk men captured the Patriot Invitational for the
first time earlier this month with impressive performances from the whole
roster. UNCW topped conference rival and host George Mason for the invitational
title.
The women, meanwhile, finished seventh, just behind Big East
member Seton Hall.
In the CAA, UNCW holds three individual top times and a pair
of men's relays. Senior Carly Tanner owns the fastest time in the women's 50
Freestyle at 23.25.
The other four top times are owned by the Seahawk men.
Freshman Garrett Spake paces the 500 Free (4:28.86) while sophomore Valtteri Halonen sits atop the 200 Backstroke (1:48.25).
UNCW's 400 Freestyle relay (3:01.21) and 200 Medley relay
(1:30.34) lead their respective events.
