CARY, North Carolina - Sophomore Sam Williams remained alive in the main singles draw and three doubles teams advanced to the round of 32 as the UNCW men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships Friday at the Cary Tennis Park.
Williams outlasted Wake Forest's David Hopkins, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, in singles to stand as the lone UNCW representative still playing in the main draw.
Three Seahawk doubles teams went through to the Round of 32, including the tandems of Pedro Mol-Zach Hublitz, Rafael Aita-Sam Williams and Kosta Blank-Chris Cooprider.
