Carolina - UNCW junior Lori Beth Adams was named the CAA Women's
Golfer-of-the-Week for the second time this season on Wednesday.
A native of Burlington, N.C., Adams was recognized after turning in a
third-place finish in the rain-shortened Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, carding a
one-under-par 71 in the first round Monday before heavy rains washed out the final
36 holes. Her top-five finish help propel the Seahawks to a tie for first place
with Maryland, who was declared the tournament winner based on the fifth player
Beth has played some of her best golf this last month," said UNCW Head Coach
Cindy Ho. "She's playing with a lot of confidence right now. Her game
overall is solid from her ball striking, short game and putting. Lori Beth has
played really well in tough conditions and that speaks volumes for how strong
she is mentally."
Adam's one-under-par 71 marked her second round of par or
lower this season while her third-place finish matched the lowest result of her
career. The finish was also Adam's third top-10 result this season and the
fourth in her last six tournaments played.
"Her game has matured a lot since last spring," said Ho. "She's
learned how to plan her strategy for each course and her course management has
been excellent. I am really excited to see where her game has progressed to so far
and it is only a matter of time before she starts winning."
UNCW closes out the fall portion of its 2012-13
schedule Oct. 26-28 with The Landfall Tradition. The 11th edition of the annual
