- The UNCW women's soccer team continues Colonial Athletic Association play
this weekend with contests against William & Mary and Old Dominion.
The Seahawks begin the week Thursday with a 7 p.m. road contest
against the Tribe at Albert-Daly Field before returning home Sunday to
entertain the Lady Monarchs in a 2 p.m. matinee. Sunday's contest will serve as
the program's senior day, with the team honoring seniors Kim Currie, Lindsay Henry, Amanda Holmes, Caitlin Hunter, Jen Ludemann, Ali Nagle and Stephanie Rose for their contributions to the Seahawks program.

UNCW holds a 7-5-1 overall mark and a 2-2-0 league record at the midway point
of conference play after posting a split of its league home matches last
weekend ... The Seahawks began the two-game homestand with a 2-0 victory over
Drexel on Sept. 28 before suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Delaware Sept.
30 ... Sophomore Stephanie Bronson and freshman Maddie McCormick both scored in
the second half to give UNCW their eighth victory in 11 tries against the
Dragons ... The strike by Bronson was her first in a UNCW uniform and also represented
the sixth different UNCW player to score a game-winning goal this season ... Senior
Caitlin Hunter recorded six saves versus Drexel to post her fourth shutout of
the season and the 11th clean sheet of her career ... Senior Stephanie Rose
remains the team's leading scorer with 19 points (6 G, 7 A) ... Rose is currently
tied with George Mason's Tiana Kallenberger for the league lead in scoring ...
Rose still ranks first among all league players in assists ... The Seahawks are
the highest-ranked CAA squad in the latest NCAA Rating Percentage Index (RPI), coming
in 52nd in the latest report released on Tuesday ... UNCW also remains ranked in
the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic region rankings, sitting in sixth place on the chart
that features teams from the Atlantic 10, CAA, Ivy and Patriot conferences.
Scouting William
& Mary William & Mary brings a perfect 3-0-0 league record and a 9-3-1 overall
mark into Thursday's matchup with the Seahawks ... The Tribe, winners of nine of
its last 10 contests, are currently ranked first in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic
region poll and 35th in Top Drawer Soccer's listing of the top 64 programs in
the country ... Senior Mallory Schaefer leads the Tribe in scoring with 18 points
(8 G, 2 A), ranking second in the CAA in that category ... Cortlyn Bristol, the
reigning CAA Player-of-the-Week, is second on the team and seventh on the
circuit in scoring with 14 points (4 G, 6 A) ... Freshman keeper Caroline Casey
currently leads the CAA in goals against average (0.61), allowing just seven
goals in 1027 minutes of work ... She is also tied for the league lead with six
shutouts ... Head Coach John Daly is in his 26th season with the Tribe ... He has guided
W&M to 20 NCAA tournament appearances, including 16 trips in the past 19

Seahawks have held the edge in the series of late, winning five of the last six
meetings between the two programs ... ODU snapped a five-game losing skid to UNCW
in their last matchup, posting a 3-2 victory in Norfolk, Va., last September ...
UNCW holds a 4-5 home record against the Lady Monarchs and have won each of the
last three meetings between the two programs at the UNCW Soccer Stadium, including
a 2-1 triumph on Oct. 1, 2010.
Seahawks Ranked Sixth In NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll
UNCW finds itself ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's
(NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll for the seventh straight week, moving into sixth
place ranking on the listing that features teams from the CAA, Atlantic 10, Ivy
and Patriot leagues ... UNCW has been ranked in all seven polls this season ...
The Seahawks are one of four CAA squads ranked in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic
Poll this week as they are joined by conference foes William & Mary (1st), Hofstra
(5th) and Drexel (8th).
Rose Named To Preseason CAA Squad UNCW

Rose was named to the Preseason All-CAA Women's Soccer Team on Aug. 15 ...
Rose, a native of Jacksonville, N.C., earned Third-Team All-CAA accolades last
season after leading the Seahawks in scoring with 10 points on a team-high five
goals.
Seahawks Record Tie Against No. 3 Wake Forest UNCW
posted its first win or tie against a top 10 opponent when it played to a 0-0
draw against No. 3 Wake Forest at the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational in
Blacksburg, Va. on Aug. 19 ... The draw also marked the Seahawks first result
against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference as they had compiled a
0-11-0 mark versus the league prior to the tie with the Demon Deacons.
Hunter Honored For Solid Opening Weekend
Senior keeper Caitlin
Hunter was recognized by various outlets for her play in the Hilton Garden
Inn Hokie Invitational in mid-August ... On Aug. 20, Hunter was named the
Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Co-Player-of-the-Week and was
selected as the CAA Player-of-the-Week by the online publication College Sports Madness ...
Hunter was also selected as the keeper for the Soccer America Women's
Team-of-the-Week on Aug. 22 ... Hunter allowed just one goal in 211:37 in
guiding the Seahawks to a 0-1-1 result against two ranked opponents at the
Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational ... The Ashburn, Va., product made six
saves in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to host No. 22 Virginia Tech in the season
opener on Aug. 17 before posting 10 saves in a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake
Forest on Aug. 19 to record her eighth career shutout.

Primetime Player accolades from the online publication for the week of Sept.
3-9 ... Currie was recognized after earning MVP honors in the UNCW Courtyard
Marriott Wilmington Invitational, tallying five points on two goals and an
assist to lead the Seahawks to the tournament title with shutout victories over
Campbell and Troy ... She opened the weekend with a goal in the Seahawks 3-0
victory over the Camels and capped the event with a goal and an assist in
UNCW's 4-0 blanking of the Trojans.

Stephanie Rose is currently fourth in program history with
26 goals ... She begins the weekend needing just three tallies to match Kelly
Renkin (2005-08) for third place on the program's all-time list goals list ...
Rose also sits in fourth place on the program's career scoring chart with 67
career points (26 G, 15 A) and is six points shy of matching Renkin for third
place on the school's career points chart ... With her league-leading seven
assists this season, Rose is making her way up the single-season charts as well
as she is part of a five-way tie for third place on the program's single-season
assists chart ... Senior keeper Caitlin
Hunter finds herself ranked on four of the programs career charts, entering
the weekend in second place in wins (24), third in saves (298), third in save
percentage (.805) and fifth in goals against average (1.31) ... Hunter moved into
a tie for third place

Athletic Association Nearing the halfway point of league play, Delaware holds the top spot in the
league standings with a perfect 4-0-0 record while Hofstra and William &
Mary are a half-game back in second with identical 3-0-0 marks to start
conference play ... Road teams were a combined 7-3-0 last weekend, highlighted by
perfect 2-0 marks for Delaware and William & Mary away from home ... William
& Mary's Cortlyn Bristol was named CAA Player-of-the-Week on Monday while
Hofstra's Jill Mulholland took home Rookie-of-the-Week honors for the second
straight week ... Senior Stephanie Rose and George Mason's Tiana Kallenberger are
