DAUFUSKIE ISLAND,
South Carolina - Senior Thomas Bass posted a one-under-par 71 in the final
round of the Rees Jones Invitational on Tuesday to help UNCW to a sixth-place
finish.
Bass finished in a tie for 11th with the one-under round
after beginning the day tied for 31st overall in the 63-man field. The Seahawks
opened the day in seventh, but combined for a final round 298 to move into the
top half of the leaderboard.
Junior Payne McLeod (78-74-76=228) joined Bass in the top-20
with an 18th-place finish.
Nationally-ranked Liberty ran away with the title by 24
strokes over East Carolina, who posted the day's low round with a 293. The Flames
also boasted the tournament medalist in Niklas Lindstrom (73-70-70=213) and he
was joined by three teammates to take the top four slots.
The Seahawks return to action Oct. 7-9, when they compete in
the Fightin' Irish Gridiron Classic, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
