WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Former UNCW men's basketball players, manager and coaches are invited to participate in several activities on tap for alumni weekend in early November, including a special alumni game on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Trask Coliseum.
The game, free and open to the public, is just one of many activities planned for alumni who played for the Seahawks. Jerry Taylor, a resident of Athens, Ala., played his senior season back in 1958 and expects to make the trip back to his alma mater.
"I will probably be the oldest guy there, but I still feel like I'm fit enough to run up and down the floor a few times," said Taylor, 74. "I've always liked to do this sort of thing. I'm just happy to be a part of a gathering like this and look forward to coming back."
The 6 p.m. tip-off on Nov. 10 should be a popular draw. A free throw and 3-point shooting contest is planned for Seahawk basketball alumni.
