BOSTON, Massachusetts - Kelly Bacon reeled off 19 kills as streaking Northeastern handed UNCW a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14) loss in the opener of a two-game Colonial Athletic Association northern road swing for the Seahawks Friday.

The Huskies, who have won nine of their last 10 matches, improved to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the CAA. The Seahawks slipped to 7-10 and 0-2.

"I thought we played tough against a very strong Northeastern team," said Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "We stayed with them pretty close in the first three sets, but fumbled a few plays to give them the lead. It was great to see Christi battle back and have a solid overall match tonight."

Laite, a junior outside hitter and preseason All-CAA pick, paced the Seahawks with 15 kills in 41 attempts for a .220 attack percentage. Senior setter Natalie Lahaie chipped in 36 assists and seven digs for the Seahawks, who hit .194 for the match.

Led by Bacon, five Huskies had at least 10 kills apiece as NU finished with a .358 attack percentage. It was NU's 13th win without a loss to UNCW since the Boston school joined the CAA in 2005.

Bambenek's Seahawk club wraps up the weekend trip Sunday with a 1 p.m. matinee in Hempstead, N.Y., against Hofstra.
