Bonner - Scored his first two collegiate goals in UNCW's 3-2
loss to Binghamton. Bonner drew the Seahawks even on both occassions.
Dell - Scored his first game-winner for UNCW in the Seahawks
2-1 win over Duke earlier this week. He remains tied with Mateo Cardona
for team lead with three goals and six points.
The Seahawks face a daunting stretch when they take on three NCAA tournament
programs in James Madison (Oct. 10), Old Dominion (Oct. 13) and Georgia
State (Oct. 17). All three matches will be played at the UNCW Soccer
Coach Aidan Heaney owns a record of 98-100-23 in 11+ seasons with the
Seahawks.He's second to Calvin Lane (129) in most wins by a UNCW coach.
The Seahawks return to
conference play Saturday with a 7 p.m. start against visiting Hofstra at the
UNCW Soccer Stadium. UNCW completed its non-conference schedule with a 3-2
win over visiting Duke Tuesday. The Pride also capped its non-conference season
with a 3-1 win over visiting Jacksonville.
Comeback As Seahawks Upend Blue Devils
The UNCW men's soccer team erupted for two goals in a 3:08 span late in the
game, including the go-ahead strike by sophomore midfielder Jamie Dell with
6:17 remaining, to stun Duke, 2-1, in a non-conference match Tuesday at the
UNCW Soccer Stadium. [Story/Box
Cardona Returns Sophomore midfielder Mateo Cardona returned to the starting lineup,
one game after getting back on the field following a knee injury. Cardona
has scored a goal in three of the four games he's played this season. He converted
a penalty in UNCW's win over Duke.
Starting Debut Freshman goalkeeper Sam Williams faced just four shots in his starting
debut ealier this week against Duke. Williams did not record a save in the
win, but limited Duke's ability to cross the ball with a half dozen interceptions.
Williams made his collegiate debut off the bench against George Mason.
Seahawks In CAA Opener, 2-0
Bolstered by goals from Taylor Morgan and Timmy Mulgrew, George Mason topped
UNCW, 2-0, in the Colonial Athletic Association season opener for both sides
on Saturday at George Mason Stadium. [Story/Box
Sophomore Jamie Dell and junior Michael Parrish were named to the Hilton Garden
Inn Classic all-tournament squad. Saint Mary's won the tournament with six
points. BU's Jake Keegan was the Most Outstanding Offensive Performer while
SMC's Andre Rawls was the Defensive MVP.
A Look At Hofstra
The Pride also ended its non-conference slate earlier this week against visiting
Jacksonville and topped the Dolphins 3-1 [Story/Box

Maid Memic leads the squad with 12 points on team-leading totals of four goals
and four assists ... Joseph Holland is tied for the lead with four goals of
his own ... The Pride is averaging nearly two goals a game with 17 goals in
nine outings ... They've placed 41.6% of their shots on target this season
... In goal Roberto Pellegrini and Adam Janowski have started five and four
games, respectively ... Pellegrini owns a 0.96 goals against average.

The Pride edged past UNCW, 2-1, last fall with a goal from Brett Carrington
in the final three minutes of regulation. The Seahawks lone goal of the match

UNCW was picked in a tie for eighth with Hofstra in the 12-team circuit in
a vote of the league's coaches (story).
The CAA sent four teams to the NCAA tournament including conference champion
Delaware, who claimed the league title for the first time. Joining the Blue
Hens in the 48-team tournament were Old Dominion, James Madison and Georgia
State. ODU was picked by the league's coaches to win the conference title
and received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes. James Madison received
one vote and was second followed by defending champion Delaware. William &
Mary and Northeastern rounded out the top five.
Senior midfielder Etienne Boulanger was honored by the league's coaches by
being named to the preason honorable mention All-CAA squad. Boulanger is UNCW's
top-returning career scorer with 29 points on 13 goals and three asists. Last
season, he totaled five points on a pair of goals and an assist.
