WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women's soccer team continues Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend with a pair of home contests against Drexel and Delaware at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The Seahawks and Drexel square off Friday in a 7 p.m. contest before UNCW entertains Delaware Sunday in a 1 p.m. matinee.

Seahawk Notes UNCW sits at 6-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league play after a split of its first two conference matches last weekend ... The Seahawks opened CAA action with a 1-0 home setback to Hofstra on Sept. 20, but rebounded Sunday with a 4-2 victory at Northeastern Sept. 23 ... Senior Stephanie Rose tallied five points, highlighted by a pair of second-half tallies, to lead UNCW to the come-from-behind victory over the Huskies ... Rose also drew an assist on junior Meg Kiser's goal late in the first half ... The goal was Kiser's first collegiate tally ... Rose now leads the CAA in scoring (19 points) and assists (7) as she has found the scoresheet in six of the Seahawks' last seven contests ... Senior Kim Currie notched a pair of assists and freshman Morgan Leyble tallied her third goal of the season as the duo remained second and third on the team's scoring chart with 10 (3 G, 4 A) and nine points (3 G, 3 A), respectively ... Senior Caitlin Hunter remains the league leader in saves (65) and save percentage (.867) while also ranking fifth on the circuit in goals against average (0.90) ... UNCW was ranked 55th in the initial Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), released by the NCAA on Tuesday ... The Seahawks were the highest-ranked Colonial Athletic Association program on the list that includes all 323 NCAA Division I programs.
Scouting Drexel Drexel begins the weekend with a 7-1-2 overall record and 1-0-1 league mark as the Dragons are riding a nine-game unbeaten streak ... Veteran Head Coach Ray Goon's squad opened league play last weekend at home with a 1-1 draw against George Mason and a 4-0 shutout of Towson ... Sophomore Melissa Chapman (3 G) and freshman Gabby Dixon (2 G, 2 A) are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points apiece ... Chapman was named CAA Co-Player-of-the-Week on Monday after posting goals in both of the Dragons' contests last week ... Sophomore Eva Badena has started all ten games in goal for the Dragons this season ... She currently leads the CAA with a 0.70 goals against average and five shutouts as she has been called on to make just 28 saves so far this season.
Series Notes Versus Drexel UNCW holds a 7-2-1 edge in the all-time series with Drexel ... The Seahawks have held the edge of late, winning three of the last four matchups between the two programs ... Drexel picked up its second victory of the series last season with a 3-1 home triumph over UNCW last September in Philadelphia ... UNCW is 4-0-1 at home all-time against the Dragons, including a 1-0 double-overtime victory on Sept. 26, 2010 ... Five of the program's previous 10 meetings have gone to overtime.
Scouting Delaware Delaware sits atop the league table with a 2-0-0 mark after opening conference play with victories over Towson (1-0) and George Mason (2-1 ot) at home last weekend ... Head Coach Scott Grzenda, who is in his 23rd season with the program, has guided the Blue Hens to a 5-4-0 overall mark thus far ... Senior forward Ali Miller paces the Blue Hens in scoring with six points (3 G) while senior Anna Lenczyk is second with four points (2 G) ... Miller shared CAA Co-Player-of-the-Week honors with Drexel's Melissa Chapman after accounting for both of the Blue Hens' game-winning goals last weekend ... Junior Jessica Levy has seen the majority of time in goal for Delaware, compiling a 0.85 goals against average, good for third in the league in that category ... She is also fifth on the circuit with a .793 save percentage.
Series Notes Versus Delaware UNCW trails in the all-time series with Delaware, 5-6 ... The Seahawks have held the edge in recent matchups, winning five of the last six meetings ... The Blue Hens halted UNCW's five-game winning streak with a 4-0 victory in a neutral-site matchup between the two programs last October in Richmond, Va. ... The game was a makeup for their originally scheduled contest in Newark, Del., that was postponed due to weather ... UNCW holds a 3-1-0 record against Delaware at the UNCW Soccer Stadium and has won three straight at home versus the Blue Hens ... The Seahawks last loss to the Blue Hens at the UNCW Soccer Stadium came in a 2-0 setback on Nov. 1, 2003.
Seahawks Ranked Fifth In NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll UNCW finds itself ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll for the sixth straight week, moving into fifth place ranking on the listing that features teams from the CAA, Atlantic 10, Ivy and Patriot leagues ... UNCW has been ranked in all six polls this season ... The Seahawks are one of four CAA squads ranked in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll as they are joined by conference foes William & Mary (1st), Drexel (5th) and Hofstra (7th).
Seahawks Record Tie Against No. 3 Wake Forest UNCW posted its first win or tie against a top 10 opponent when it played to a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest at the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. on Aug. 19 ... The draw also marked the Seahawks first result against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference as they had compiled a 0-11-0 mark versus the league prior to the tie with the Demon Deacons.
Rose Named To Preseason CAA Squad UNCW senior forward Stephanie Rose was named to the Preseason All-CAA Women's Soccer Team on Aug. 15 ... Rose, a native of Jacksonville, N.C., earned Third-Team All-CAA accolades last season after leading the Seahawks in scoring with 10 points on a team-high five goals.
Hunter Honored For Solid Opening Weekend Senior keeper Caitlin Hunter was recognized by various outlets for her play in the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational in mid-August ... On Aug. 20, Hunter was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Co-Player-of-the-Week and was selected as the CAA Player-of-the-Week by the online publication College Sports Madness ... Hunter was also selected as the keeper for the Soccer America Women's Team-of-the-Week on Aug. 22 ... Hunter allowed just one goal in 211:37 in guiding the Seahawks to a 0-1-1 result against two ranked opponents at the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational ... The Ashburn, Va., product made six saves in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to host No. 22 Virginia Tech in the season opener on Aug. 17 before posting 10 saves in a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest on Aug. 19 to record her eighth career shutout.
Currie Recognized By Collegesoccer360.com UNCW senior midfielder Kim Currie was recognized by Collegesoccer360.com in early-September, earning Primetime Player accolades from the online publication for the week of Sept. 3-9 ... Currie was recognized after earning MVP honors in the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational, tallying five points on two goals and an assist to lead the Seahawks to the tournament title with shutout victories over Campbell and Troy ... She opened the weekend with a goal in the Seahawks 3-0 victory over the Camels and capped the event with a goal and an assist in UNCW's 4-0 blanking of the Trojans.
Record Watch Senior Stephanie Rose is currently fourth in program history with 26 goals ... She begins the weekend needing just three tallies to match Kelly Renkin (2005-08) for third place on the program's all-time list goals list ... Rose also sits in fourth place on the program's career scoring chart with 67 career points (26 G, 15 A) and is six points shy of matching Renkin for third place on the school's career points chart ... With her league-leading seven assists this season, Rose is making her way up the single-season charts as well as she is part of a five-way tie for third place on the program's single-season assists chart ... Senior keeper Caitlin Hunter finds herself ranked on four of the programs career charts, entering the weekend in second place in wins (20), third in saves (288), third in save percentage (.802) and fifth in goals against average (1.34) ... Her victory against Charlotte on Aug. 31 moved Hunter past Carla Linebarger (1996-99) into sole possession of second place on the squad's all-time wins chart.
