WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW men's team won four out of five draws and the women's squad captured championships in two brackets as the UNCW-Landfall Invitational Tournament wrapped up Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall's Tennis Center.

In the men's competition, the Seahawks racked up three singles titles on Sunday's final day, with UNCW players battling each other in two of the three draws. Overall, the tourney featured All-Seahawk finals in three of the five men's draws.

Junior Rafael Aita swept past senior Chris Cooprider, 6-1, 6-3, in straight sets to win the Flight A title after both Seahawks downed VCU players in the semifinals. Aita outlasted Jaime Vazquez, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, in the semis and Cooprider blitzed Alejandro Argente, 6-1, 6-2.

In the B Flight finale, UNCW sophomore Kaue Pereira carved out a three-set win over teammate Sam Williams, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Sophomore Zach Hublitz won the C Flight by default over UNC Charlotte's Alex Weber.

"I feel very good about how our team performed in the tournament," said sixth-year UNCW Head Coach Mait DuBois. "We really enjoyed playing in front of the local crowd. This is the most dominant we have been in this event. We had some strong teams here, and I think our success is due to how hard the guys worked over the summer. I thought we had made some strides, but this shows just how far we have come.

"I'd like to thank the Country Club of Landfall and all of the volunteers, staff and families for their help with the tournament. It is truly a special event in this community and I love being part of it. I was especially pleased to see how many kids were there and watching them interact with our players."

The UNCW women's team made its debut under new skipper Evan Clark and won two championships. Juniors Angie Sekely and Olga Blank claimed the A Flight doubles title, while sophomore Hamilton Lovett captured the D Flight singles hardware.

Lovett thumped West Virginia's Vivian Tsui, 6-3, 6-3, in Sunday's final for first place in the D Flight.

"I'm really proud and pleased with the way our team competed throughout the weekend," said Clark. "We definitely got better each day of the tournament and it was great to see what we need to work on moving forward. We're excited to get back on the practice court this week."
