WILMINGTON, North Carolina - A pair of home meets against nationally-ranked Tennessee and NC State highlight the 2012-13 UNCW swimming and diving schedules, Head Coach Dave Allen announced today.
The Seahawks open the season with Tennessee for the second straight year when the Vols visit the Port City on Sept. 28. UT's women's team finished 2012 ranked 10th nationally by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America while the men were 20th. Tennessee topped the UNCW women's team at the Seahawk Natatorium and this will be the first meet between the two programs on the men's side.
UNCW hosts NC State on Jan. 26, in the final home meet of the season for the Seahawks. The Wolfpack men concluded their 2012 season with a final ranking of 25th.
Also highlighting the schedule is a meet at Duke with Virginia Tech and Florida State. Last year all four schools swam against each other in Blacksburg, Va. FSU's women's program checked in at 25 in the final poll of the season.
In Colonial Athletic Association action, the Seahawks visit Old Dominion and will swim against Delaware, William & Mary and defending CAA women's champion James Madison in a pod meet in Newark, Del.
UNCW will also swim in dual meets at Emory, North Florida and Wingate and host Campbell. The Seahawks also compete at the annual Patriot Invitational in early December as well as the Virginia Tech Invitational in February.
The CAA championships, hosted by George Mason, will be Feb. 27 - Mar. 2.
