ATHENS, Georgia - The UNCW men's golf team shot 13-over-par in the final round to fall back to the pack and finish tied for ninth at the NCAA Athens Regional Saturday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Alabama, East Carolina, North Florida, Georgia and Iowa advanced to the NCAA Championship finals out of the region.
Payne McLeod (70-73-74=217/T21) led UNCW for the third straight round, but struggled Saturday at three-over (74). Ryan Nagy (70-76-74=220/T36) and Stefan Brewer (80-74-74=228/T63) added counting rounds of 74 while Thomas Bass (71-74-75=220/T36) was the final counting score with a 75. Patrick Sawrey (71-74-79=224) finished tied for 56th.
