WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Kelly Van Houten's appointment as head softball coach at UNCW will not be renewed after four seasons on the bench for the Seahawks.
Van Houten, only the third coach in the 27-year history of the sport at UNCW, joined the program in the summer of 2008 and compiled a 43-163 overall record and 20-63 conference record in four years.
A native of Raleigh, Van Houten previously coached at Belmont, Campbell and Georgia State before joining the Seahawks.
"We appreciate Kelly's service to the program and university over the last four years and wish her all the best in her future endeavors," said Jimmy Bass, UNCW's athletic director.
A national search for Van Houten's replacement will begin immediately.
