- Bolstered by championship efforts by Bob Vanderham and David Lindsay, UNCW
finished second in the men's meet at the Colonial Athletic Association
Championships on Saturday at George Mason Stadium. The Seahawk women finished
George Mason captured the men's title with a 101-point margin
over the Seahawks while James Madison edged VCU, 132-126.5, for the women's
Vanderham won the 800 meters for the second straight year,
posting a time of 1:51.21. Lindsay, meanwhile, won the 110 meter Hurdles with a
time of 14.19 seconds. He also finished third in the 100 meters behind teammate
Jeremy Johnson (10.67) with a time of 10.78.
The Seahawks saw a pair of school records fall on the
afternoon with Meena Reid finishing second in the women's 100 meters (11.77)
and Becky Boulay ran 2:11.57 in the 800 meters and placing third.
UNCW's men's 4x100 relay of Creshawn Wilkes, Johnson,
Lindsay and Jordan Reed was second with a time of 41.34. Also in men's relay
action, the 4x400 squad of Anthony Colon, Wil Zahorodny, Vanderham and Connors
Brooks took third (3:22.65).
Colon also earned All-CAA honors with a second-place finish
in the 400 Hurdles. In the women's 100 Hurdles, Krista Mangum also earned
All-CAA honors with a third-place finish.
Aerial Chatman rounded out UNCW's All-CAA honors with a
third-place standing in the Triple Jump.
