CONWAY, South Carolina - Kyle Barbour won the Hammer and Discus Throws to
lead an impressive UNCW effort on Saturday at the Chanticleer Classic in Conway, S.C.
The Seahawk men and women's
programs combined to win 15 events on the afternoon.
Barbour used a throw of
183-4 to win the Hammer and then recorded a mark of 153-10 in winning the
Discus.
Erin Brennan and Sara
Bowen paced the Lady Seahawks, winning the 800 meters (2:19.91) and 400 Hurdles
(1:03.79), respectively.
Adding wins for UNCW were
Katy Haran (1,500 meters), Rachel Quinn (3,000 meters), Jessica Van Hulst (High
Jump), Valerie Afram (Long Jump), Johnique Fonville (Triple Jump), Clarissa
Perkins (Discus) and Kristi Kerrigan (Javelin).
Reigning Colonial Athletic
Association Field Athlete-of-the-Week Jordan Daywalt, won the women's
Pole Vault for the third time this season.
For the men, Kelly
Carmichael won the 800 meters and joining him were Brent Campbell (Long Jump),
Ed Manning (Triple Jump) and Kyle Campbell (Javelin).
The Seahawks visit Charlotte, N.C.,
on April 20-21, for the Charlotte Invitational.
