BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Payne McLeod (73-70-73=216) continued his steady
play with a final round 73 to finish in a tie for ninth overall on Sunday at
the LSU National Intercollegiate at the University Club.
The Seahawks
(305-295-301=901) finish ninth overall after recording a 301 in the final
round.
Host LSU rallied past Iowa for the team
championship behind a tournament-low 65 in the third round by medalist Austin
Gutgsell (71-71-65=207)
UNCW's Thomas Bass (77-67-73=217)
just missed out on his fourth top-10 finish, placing 12th a stroke back of
McLeod and two other golfers.
Rounding out the Seahawk
effort this weekend were Stefan Brewer (T45th, 76-77-76=229), Ryan Nagy (59th,
79-81-80=240) and Patrick Sawrey (61st, 84-81-79=244).
UNCW returns to the course
on April 6-7 at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C.
