MYRTLE BEACH, South
Carolina - Bob Vanderham, Valerie Afram and Aerial Chatman won the 800
meters, Long Jump and Triple Jump, respectively, to head up UNCW's outing on
Saturday at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Adding to UNCW's stellar performance was sophomore Meena
Reid, who broke her own school record in the 100 meters when she placed third
with a time of 11.79 seconds. Her previous record was 11.80.
Vanderham used a time of 1:51.46 to win the 800 meters while
Afram jumped 17-8 3/4 feet to win the Long Jump "B" event. Teammate Tatyana
Brewton finished second with a mark of 17-2 3/4.
In the Triple Jump, UNCW's Aerial Chatman and Cameron Walton
finished 1-2 with distances of 49-4 1/2 and 48-0, respectively.
On the men's side of the Long Jump "B" event, Tyler Allard
was second with a distance of 21-2 feet and Brett Campbell was fourth overall
with a mark of 21-0 3/4.
Kyle Barbour took third in the Discus Throw with a mark of
158-11.
In a late result from Friday, Barbour finished third in the
Hammer Throw with a distance of 174-2 feet.
The Seahawks visit Western Carolina on March 24, for the
Western Carolina Invitational.
