TALLAHASSEE, Florida - The 30th-ranked Florida State men's tennis team recorded its sixth victory over a ranked opponent by racing past No. 33 UNCW, 6-1, in a non-conference match late Thursday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

The Seminoles won their fourth straight match to improve to 12-2 overall and remained perfect at home with a 9-0 mark. The Seahawks wrapped up their trip to the Sunshine State with an 0-2 slate and stand 9-4 this spring.

In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, FSU won the first two doubles matches off the court to clinch the early point before UNCW's top tandem of Kosta Blank and Chris Cooprider, ranked 70th nationally, earned an 8-5 decision over Jordan Kelly-Houston and Blake Davis.

But the Seminoles cruised in singles as well, winning the first five matches off the court to clinch the match before sophomore Pedro Mol pulled out a 7-6 (3), 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) triumph over Cristian Gonzalez Mendez at the No. 4 position.

The Seahawks return home to entertain Texas-San Antonio on Sunday in a Noon match at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
