WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - First-team All-Colonial Athletic Association midfielder Daniel Roberts was selected by the Houston Dynamo in the fourth round of the Major League
Soccer supplemental draft on Tuesday. Roberts hails from Houston and is a
product of the Dynamo Academy.
Roberts concluded his career in 2011 and earned first-team
All-CAA honors after notching a goal and doling out a team-high five assists.
In 65 career games, he totaled 42 points on 14 goals and 18 assists.
In 2009, Roberts, a third-team All-CAA selection, played in
a career-high 21 games as the Seahawks won their first CAA title and advanced
to the second round of the NCAA tournament. In the tournament opening match, he
drew the Seahawks even with a goal on a free kick from 22 yards out. UNCW would
go on to edge Charlotte in penalty kicks to advance to the second round.
Roberts began his career with UNCW in 2007, earning CAA
All-Rookie honors.
Roberts' signing has been the latest in a flurry of activity
for the Seahawks and professional soccer that started with All-CAA first-team
goalkeeper Brandon Miller signing with Rochester of the USL and more recently,
Brad Knighton returning to the MLS with the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps.
