ATHENS, Georgia -
Freshman Valtteri Halonen continued his spectacular season on Saturday,
finishing 13th in the 100 Backstroke and narrowly missed setting a school
record in the process at the Georgia Fall Invitational.
Halonen posted a time of 49.42 seconds in Saturday's finals
session to place 13th, but his time of 49.05 was the second fastest time in
Seahawks history just behind Andrew Roger's mark of 49.04 set in 2009. Halonen
also swam in the 100 Butterfly and finished 19th with a time of 49.55.
Joining Halonen in the 100 Fly was fellow freshman Nick Lowe, who fashioned a time of 49.50 seconds to edge Valterri and finish 18th.
The meet concludes on Sunday with two more sessions.
