WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Freshman Katlyn Axenfeld headed home a cross in the 93rd minute to break a scoreless tie and lift Towson to a 1-0 victory over UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer action Sunday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Tigers evened their season mark at 8-8 overall and moved to 3-5 in league play while the Seahawks slipped to 2-13 and 0-7. Both teams return to action Oct. 21 with league contests. UNCW hosts Northeastern at 7 p.m. while Towson entertains Delaware in a 3 p.m. matinee.

Axenfeld's game-winning strike came at the 92:25 mark as she was able to work her way through the UNCW defense and head home a corner kick from freshman Sofia Reed for her second goal of the season.

Both teams had a chance to score earlier in the contest as the two sides both hit the crossbar within a minute of each other late in the first half. UNCW junior Lindsay Henry found the bar on a shot from 30 yards out at the 36:35 mark and junior Cheyenne Skidmore connected with the pipe just 40 seconds later on a  sliding shot from 10 yards out.

Towson posted a 15-13 shot advantage in the contest while the Seahawks held a slim 3-2 edge in corner kicks taken.

Senior Jocelyn Papciak made six saves for her second shutout of the season while senior Chandler Follett tallied four stops for the Seahawks.
