- The UNCW women's golf team combined for a team total 307 in the final round and
finished in 15th place with a three-round total of 952 (324-321-307) as the
Windy City Collegiate Championship came to a close Tuesday at the Glen View
Sophomore Lori Beth Adams posted a two-over-par 74 to pace
the Seahawks during the final 18 holes to finish the event with a 54-hole total
of 234 (82-78-74/T-59th). Senior Sofia Hagsund carded a 78 and ended the tournament
one shot back of Adams with a 235 (78-79-78) scorecard. Sophomore Laverry Kumar (85-78-80=243/76th),
senior Alei Mitchell (79-87-79=245/78th) and sophomore Jeanne Metivier (90-86-76/80th)
rounded out the Seahawks five-player entry.
Second-round leader No. 4 Oklahoma State (291-298-293=882) claimed
a one-shot victory over Arizona (303-292-288=883) as the Cowgirls were able to
survive a late rally from the Wildcats that fell shot when Arizona's Isabelle
Boineau was unable to make par on the final hole. Ohio State (396-300-288=884)
finished one shot back of the Wildcats to claim third.
Boineau (76-70-68=214) and Oklahoma State's Kelsey Vines
(74-69-71=214) shared individual medalist honors as both players finished the
tournament at two-under-par. Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman (73-71-71=215) ended
up one shot back of the duo to take third.
UNCW continues its fall schedule Oct. 10-11 in the ECU Lady
Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Golf Club.
