WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s 372 student-athletes performed well in the classroom in 2013-14 and will be shooting for their fifth Colonial Athletic Association championship of the year when the CAA Baseball Championships get under way on Wednesday, May 21, at Brooks Field.

“We’re extremely pleased with the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes this year,” said Jimmy Bass, UNCW’s athletic director. “We certainly place a lot of emphasis on winning championships, but it’s more important to do well in the classroom and our student-athletes consistently shine in their academic pursuits. This is also a reflection of the outstanding work of our academic support personnel, along with the excellent faculty and staff we have here at UNCW.”

UNCW’s student-athletes combined for a grade point average of 3.20 in the second semester of the 2013-14 academic year. The group owns a cumulative GPA of 3.207.

Overall, 56 student-athletes posted perfect 4.00 GPA’s in 2013-14, a total of 26 in the fall semester and 30 in the spring term.
