Rob Aycock
Position: Senior Associate A.D./Seahawk Club

Rob Aycock, a successful athletics fundraising professional with collegiate experience at three different institutions, joined the staff as Senior Associate A.D for External Affairs./Executive Director of the Seahawk Club in April of 2013.

Aycock, 31, most recently served as Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at High Point before accepting the position with the Seahawks. He becomes the 10th full-time chief of the Seahawk Club.

“We’re very excited about Rob becoming a member of the UNCW family and Wilmington community,” said Director of Athletics Jimmy Bass. “He’s one of the rising stars in collegiate fund raising. Rob brings a lot of experience and energy to the position as well as fresh ideas and a creative approach that will help us elevate our efforts as we embark on an exciting period in UNCW athletics.”

Aycock has worked at HPU for the last three years and spearheaded a marked increase in athletic giving for the Panthers. HPU hiked its giving from $122,000 in 2009 to more than $4 million last year. In addition, Aycock helped oversee several facility improvements, including the installation of a new surface for the track, soccer and lacrosse stadium, the renovation of men’s and women’s basketball offices and locker rooms and the construction of a plaza at HPU’s Williard Baseball Stadium.

“I’d like to thank Chancellor (Gary) Miller and Athletic Director Jimmy Bass for this special opportunity,” said Aycock. “I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with everyone at UNCW to help better the experiences of our student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the field of play.

“I want to engage the Wilmington community as well as all UNCW alums to let them know that we are their team. Their support is vital to our success and our ability to put out a product that can be a huge source of pride for them wherever they reside.”

The Tarboro, N.C., native began his athletic administration career at Wake Forest in 2006 as an assistant in the Demon Deacon ticket office. He moved up to Assistant Director of Ticket Operations at Wake before taking a position at Kent State in 2007.

He worked two years at Kent State as Associate Director of Athletic Advancement for the Blue and Gold Fund from 2007-09, managing a significant prospect pool and implementing the first comprehensive marketing effort of premium seating options for football and basketball for the Golden Flashes.

Aycock then returned to North Carolina to take over as Associate A.D. for External Relations at HPU in May of 2009 and has thrived with the Panthers. He solicited the largest planned athletic gift ($2.6 million) in the school’s history and coordinated record-setting corporate sales for the athletic program.

“The entire membership of the Seahawk Club is excited about having Rob on board,” said Don Fallis, the Seahawk Club’s current president. “We’re anxious to work closely with him to increase membership and giving.”

Aycock earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wake Forest in 2003 and completed his Master’s Degree in Sport Management at Tennessee in 2005. He and his wife, Turner, have a daughter Emmeline Leila, 2.
