What do you love about your major? Why did you choose it?
The thing I love about communications is that it is interesting to me and seemed extremely beneficial to me. I chose this major because in most job settings one must be able to communicate with all types of people, I think that it is extremely beneficial to learn how to effectively communicate to colleges in the workplace.
How has being a student athlete enhanced your academics? Your role as a leader?
Being a student-athlete is fun because academics are important to me as well as tennis so this way I get the best of both worlds. I must be able to manage my time and deal with multiple challenging things at one time. Learning to balance multiple things at one time and manage my time is a skill that I intend to carry into my future life and profession.
What academic highlight has prepared you well for your career?
Being involved with a lot of people in my classes, especially group projects has given me a specific skill set which makes me good at interacting with people, a skill set that will be extremely useful in my future career, both professional and college.
What are your plans upon graduation?
Upon graduation I intend to make the transition from playing college tennis to coaching college tennis, this of course depending on how my tennis goes in the next few years.
What about you would be important for a scholarship donor to know that would encourage him/her to give again?
Something important for a scholarship donor to know would be that every day I wake up I am happy I made the move out to Wilmington and every day I am glad to be a Seahawk. Our program here is not only dedicated to improving a players tennis ability but also developing them as a person-providing them with life skills they will be able to carry forward into whatever career they chose to go into. Scholarships allow people to be here that may not have had the chance to be here, and experience everything UNCW has to offer with your help.
