UNCW split a pair of Colonial Athletic Association contests at home last week as it fell to Drexel, 1-0, before defeating Delaware, 3-1, to earn a spot in the CAA Women’s Soccer Championship … The loss to the Dragons spoiled the Seahawks quest for a undefeated finish to its home slate as UNCW finished the regular season with a 6-1 mark at the UNCW Soccer Stadium … Sophomore Katrina Guillou continued her breakout season, tallying five points in the Seahawks must-win contest against the Blue Hens as she finished the regular season with points in 11 of the team’s final 14 games … She was named CAA Co-Player-of-the-Week on Monday for her efforts, joining fellow sophomore Maddie McCormick, who was recognized by the league on Sept. 16 … Guillou’s five-point effort against the Blue Hens also upped her team-leading point total to 26 (10 G, 6 A) and moved her into a tie for eighth place on the program’s single-season points chart … Sophomore Maddie McCormick tallied the other goal in the Seahawks triumph over the Blue Hens to increase her point total to 16 (6 G, 4 A), good for second on the team … Freshman keeper Carolyn Huddy maintained her stellar play in goal, allowing just two goals while making 11 saves to finish the month of October with a 0.85 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in six contests … The Seahawks will be the No. 5 seed for the CAA Women’s Soccer Championship and will face No. 4 seed Hofstra in the first round on Nov.2.

Hofstra wrapped up the regular season last weekend with a pair of ties, playing the league runner up William & Mary (3-3) and regular season champion James Madison (2-2) to draws at home … The 2012 CAA Tournament champions have counted heavily on the 1-2 punch of Sam Scolarici and Leah Galton this season as the duo ranks second and third in the CAA in points with 34 and 27, respectively … Scolarici led the league in both goals (16) and game-winning strikes (5) during the regular season while Galton served as the Pride’s top playmaker with a league-best 11 assists to go along with eight goals … In goal, Emily Morphitis has started all 15 games played this season and has fashioned a 1.32 goals against average, a .694 save percentage and 32 saves … Hofstra holds an 11-3-1 edge in the all-time series … The Pride won the regular season matchup between the two programs, claiming a 2-1 victory at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Sept. 27 … Saturday’s contest marks the third postseason meeting between the two programs … UNCW won the first postseason meeting in overtime, 2-1, on its way to capturing the 2009 championship while Hofstra defeated the Seahawks by the same margin in double-overtime of the 2012 title game to claim the crown.
