Junior Natalie Winslow and the Seahawks close out the non-conference portion of their 2012 this weekend with games against Coastal Carolina and East Carolina
WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women's soccer team completes the non-conference portion of its 2012 schedule this week as it faces rivals Coastal Carolina and East Carolina.

UNCW begins the weekend with a 6 p.m. contest against the Chanticleers in Conway, S.C., Thursday before returning home to entertain the Pirates in a 7 p.m. kickoff Sunday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Seahawk Notes
UNCW (4-2-1) carries a four-game winning streak into its final two non-conference matchups after posting shutout victories over Campbell (3-0) and Troy (4-0) last weekend to win the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational ... Senior Kim Currie was named MVP of the event, tallying five points on two goals and an assist to power a Seahawks lineup that fired 43 shots during the tournament, with 21 attempts on target ... Currie was also named a Primetime Player by the online publication, Collegesoccer360.com, for her MVP performance on Tuesday .. Fellow senior Stephanie Rose, one of five Seahawk players to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the event, notched two goals and added two assists to increase her team-leading point total to 11 (2 G, 5 A) ... Rose currently leads the Colonial Athletic Association in assists and is tied for second in the league in scoring ... Seniors Lindsay Henry, Jennifer Ludemann and junior Nicole Costa joined Currie and Rose on the All-Tournament Team ... Senior Caitlin Hunter made six saves during the tournament to improve her league leading goals against average (0.70), saves (48) and save percentage (.906) totals ... The Seahawks were able to use their depth to their advantage during the tournament as 23 different players saw time on the field.

Scouting Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina enters Thursday's matchup with a 3-3-0 overall record after posting a 3-0 victory at The Citadel on Sept. 7 ... Sophomore forward Kacey Kelley scored twice against the Bulldogs to improve her team-leading point total to six ... Three players - Fia Jonsson, Rylie Johnson and Anna Lowe - are tied for second in scoring with four points apiece ... In goal, junior Megan Spencer has started all six games and has recorded 21 saves to go along with a .778 save percentage and a 1.01 goals against average ... Spencer has two shutouts to her credit this season ... Paul Hogan is in his second season with the Chanticleers program ... He spent 10 seasons with the University of Colorado program, including five as Associate Head Coach, before taking over the CCU program on Jan. 5, 2010.

Series Notes Versus Coastal Carolina
UNCW holds a 5-1 lead in the all-time series with Coastal Carolina ... All six previous meetings have come since the start of the 2000 season ... The Chanticleers only victory in the series came in their last meeting, a 3-2 triumph in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational at the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sept. 3, 2010 ... UNCW is 2-0 in its two previous visits to Conway, recording a 2-0 victory on Sept. 26, 2001 and posting a 2-1 overtime triumph in their most recent visit on Oct. 13, 2003. 

Scouting East Carolina
East Carolina makes its way to the Port City the owners of a 3-4-0 overall record following a 3-0 loss at South Carolina on Sept. 9 ... The Pirates and Seahawks have already shared three common opponents this season, Campbell, Charlotte and Davidson ... ECU opened its season with a 2-1 overtime loss at Campbell while defeating Davidson, 3-0, and falling to Charlotte, 1-0, at home during Labor Day weekend ... The Seahawks posted victories over all three common opponents ... Sophomore Lexi Miller paces a balanced ECU attack that has seen eight different players record a point this season with four points on a team-high two goals ... Junior Christiane Cordero has played every minute in goal for the Pirates, recording 21 saves, a .636 save percentage and a 1.70 goals against average ... Cordero has two shutouts to her credit this season ... Rob Donnenwirth is in his 14th season as head coach of the Pirates ... He has led East Carolina to 130 victories during his tenure, the most in school history.

Series Notes Versus East Carolina
UNCW trails in its series with East Carolina by a 12-5-1 margin ... Sunday's meeting marks the seventh straight season that the former Colonial Athletic Association rivals have faced each other on the pitch ... Four of the Seahawks five victories in the series have come at home, including a 1-0 triumph in their last meeting in Wilmington on Sept. 16, 2010... East Carolina won last season's matchup, 2-0, in Greenville behind goals from a pair of goals from current senior Katy Butler ... Four of the previous 18 meetings between the two programs have gone to overtime. 

Seahawks Ranked Third In NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll
UNCW finds itself ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll for the fourth straight week, coming in third place on the listing that features teams from the CAA, Atlantic 10, Ivy and Patriot leagues ... UNCW has been ranked in all four polls this season ... The Seahawks are one of three CAA squads ranked in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll as they are joined by conference foes William & Mary (1st) and Drexel (7th).

Seahawks Record Tie Against No. 3 Wake Forest
UNCW posted its first win or tie against a top 10 opponent when it played to a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest at the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. on Aug. 19 ... The draw also marked the Seahawks first result against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference as they had compiled a 0-11-0 mark versus the league prior to the tie with the Demon Deacons.

Hunter Honored For Solid Opening Weekend
Senior keeper Caitlin Hunter was recognized by various outlets for her play in the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational in mid-August ... On Aug. 20, Hunter was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Co-Player-of-the-Week and was selected as the CAA Player-of-the-Week by the online publication College Sports Madness ... Hunter was also selected as the keeper for the Soccer America Women's Team-of-the-Week on Aug. 22 ... Hunter allowed just one goal in 211:37 in guiding the Seahawks to a 0-1-1 result against two ranked opponents at the Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational ... The Ashburn, Va., product made six saves in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to host No. 22 Virginia Tech in the season opener on Aug. 17 before posting 10 saves in a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest on Aug. 19 to record her eighth career shutout.

Record Watch
Senior Stephanie Rose is currently fourth in program history with 23 goals ... With her two goals against Campbell on Sept. 7, Rose moved past Michelle Doherty (1998-2000) into sole possession of fourth place on the all-time list ... Rose also made a jump on the program's career scoring list last week as well, using her six point output to move into sole possession of fourth place with 59 career points (23 G, 13 A) ... Rose leaped past three former UNCW standouts -Doherty, Jenny Cauble (2004-07)  and Katy Shearon (1995-98) - into fourth place on the all-time list with her five-point evening against the Camels ... Senior keeper Caitlin Hunter finds herself in second place in wins (19), third in saves (271), third in save percentage (.804) and fifth in goals against average (1.35) ... Her victory against Charlotte on Aug. 31 moved Hunter past Carla Linebarger (1996-99) into sole possession of second place on the squad's all-time wins chart.

Drexel remains atop the league standings with a 5-1-1 overall mark after recording a 1-0 victory in its derby match with Penn on Sept. 9 ... William & Mary is in second place with a 5-2 record and has won each of its last five contests while UNCW sits in third at 4-2-1 and carries a four-game winning streak into the weekend ... Old Dominion's Amber Cook and George Mason's Liz Hodges shared CAA Player-of-the-Week honors on Monday ... William & Mary's freshman keeper Caroline Casey was tabbed Rookie-of-the-Week ... George Mason's Tiana Kallenberger continues to lead the league in both goals (6) and points (15) ... UNCW's Stephanie Rose (2 G, 5 A) and William & Mary's Mallory Schaefer (5 G, 1 A) are tied for second in scoring with 11 points apiece ... Rose currently serves as the league's top playmaker with five assists ... UNCW keeper Caitlin Hunter paces the league in save percentage (.906), saves (48) and goals against average (0.70).
