Carolina - The UNCW women's soccer team begins a four-game homestand this weekend
when it hosts George Mason and Towson in a pair of Colonial Athletic
Association contests at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The Seahawks entertain the Patriots Friday in a 7 p.m. kickoff before taking on the Tigers Sunday in a 2 p.m. matinee. UNCW (2-11-0; 0-5-0 CAA) returns home to the Port City after suffering a pair of road shutouts losses at VCU (1-0) and James Madison (2-0) last weekend. Juniors Kim Currie (2 G) Amanda Holmes (1 G, 2 A) and Stephanie Rose (2 G) all remain tied atop the team's leader board in scoring with four points each while three players sit two points back of the trio in a tie for second with two points apiece. In goal, junior Caitlin Hunter remains among the league leaders in goals against average (1.61), total saves (70) and save percentage (.787). The Patriots (5-5-4; 2-2-2 CAA) take to the road for the final time this season following a split of their league games against Northeastern (L 2-1 2OT) and Hofstra (W 1-0) at home last weekend. Junior Tiana Kallenberger leads the Patriots in scoring with 14 points (5 G, 4 A) while senior Zoe Doherty is second with 10 (4 G, 2 A). In goal, sophomore Lyndsey Hokanson and Alex Bodenschatz have split time between the pipes for the Patriots. Together, the duo has combined to record a 1.59 save percentage, a .753 goals against average and four shutouts. Towson (7-7-0; 2-4-0 CAA) carries a two-game winning streak into their weekend road swing after a pair of home victories against Hofstra (3-2) and Northeastern (3-1) last weekend. Junior Cheyenne Skidmore leads the Tigers with 19 points (5 G, 9 A) on the strength of a league-leading nine assists while Emily Banes is closely behind in second with 17 points (7 G, 3 A) to date. Senior Jocelyn Papciak has started all 14 games between the pipes for Towson and leads the league in total saves (83) while also posting a .761 save percentage and a 1.87 goals against average. The Seahawks wrap up their four-game homestand next weekend as they welcome Northeastern (Oct. 21) and Hofstra (Oct. 23) to the UNCW Soccer Stadium for a pair of Colonial Athletic Association contests. |
