WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW freshman goalkeeper Carolyn Huddy was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie-of-the-Week on Monday.

Huddy becomes the third UNCW player to be recognized by the league this season as sophomore Maddie McCormick was named Player-of-the-Week on Sept. 16 while fellow newcomer Liisa Rahkola earned Rookie-of-the-Week honors on Sept. 23.

“I’m happy that Carolyn has been recognized by the CAA for her play last week against College of Charleston,” said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. “She has competed hard all season and has done an excellent job the last two games of stepping in after Lissa suffered her injury at Northeastern. As with any individual honor, however, Carolyn shares this award with her teammates.”

A native of Huntersville, N.C. , Huddy recorded her first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 victory over visiting College of Charleston on Oct. 11. Huddy faced six shots and made one save as she helped the Seahawks remain undefeated in five contests at the UNCW Soccer Stadium this season.

UNCW (7-7; 2-2 CAA) returns to the road this weekend as it travels to James Madison (Oct. 18) and William & Mary (Oct. 20) for a pair of Colonial Athletic Association contests.
