WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women’s soccer program will tackle an 18-game slate, including seven home contests, nine road matches and two neutral site matchups, during the 2013 season, veteran Head Coach Paul Cairney has announced.

The Seahawks will open the campaign with a six-game road swing that gets under way Aug. 23 at Southeastern Conference foe South Carolina and also features road matchups with UNC Charlotte (Aug. 25), East Carolina (Sept. 6) and N.C. State (Sept. 8) as well as a pair of neutral-site contests versus Western Carolina (Aug. 30) and UNCG (Sept. 1) in a tournament hosted by ECU.

Cairney’s club makes its home debut Sept. 13 with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational. UNCW will also face Longwood (Sept. 15) during the two-day event at the UNCW Soccer Stadium that also includes future Colonial Athletic Association member Elon.

A home contest against Coastal Carolina (Sept. 19) and a visit to Francis Marion (Sept. 22) brings the non-conference schedule to a close.

The Seahawks open CAA action with a road test on Sept. 27 against defending CAA champion Hofstra, which defeated UNCW in double overtime last November in Williamsburg, Va. A trip to Northeastern on Sept. 29 wraps up September.

October has the Seahawks playing four of their final six regular season contests in the Port City as they open the month with home matchups against Towson (Oct. 4) and College of Charleston (Oct. 11) before taking to the road for games versus James Madison (Oct. 18) and defending CAA regular season champion William & Mary (Oct. 20). The regular season ends with home matchups versus Drexel (Oct. 25) and Delaware (Oct. 27) during the final weekend of October.

The 2013 CAA Women's Soccer Championship will once again be a six-team event that begins Nov. 3 with first-round contests at campus sites. The winners of the two first-round contests will join the top two seeds for the semifinals (Nov. 8) and championship (Nov. 10) at the home of the regular-season champion.

UNCW has a pair of preseason exhibitions lined up before embarking on the regular season ledger. The Seahawks will face Campbell at home on Aug. 12 and travels to Elon on Aug. 17.
