WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women’s soccer team completes its six-game road swing this weekend as it travels to East Carolina and NC State for a pair of non-conference contests.

The Seahawks open the weekend with a return to Greenville, where they squared off Western Carolina and UNCG last weekend in the ECU Soccer Tournament, to face the Pirates in a 7 p.m. contest at the ECU Soccer Stadium. UNCW completes the weekend swing sunday with a 1 p.m. contest against the Wolfpack at Dail Soccer Field.

UNCW (0-4) is back on the road after falling in both of its games in the ECU Soccer Tournament last weekend, suffering a 2-1 setback to Western Carolina and a 2-0 defeat to UNCG. Sophomore Katrina Guillou tallied her first goal of the season in the contest against the Catamounts while redshirt freshman Theresa O'Sullivan picked up her first collegiate point with an assist on Guillou’s tally. Guillou and freshman Moa Jarl were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.

ECU (2-1-1) continues a five-game homestand on Friday that began last weekend with a 1-0 loss to UNCG and 2-1 double-overtime victory against WCU in action in the ECU Soccer Tournament.  The Pirates have found balance in their attack in the early going as five players have found the back of the net this season.  Junior Saundra Baron has started all four games in goal for the Pirates and has recorded 14 saves, 0.67 goal against average and a .824 save percentage in that span.

NC State (4-1) heads into Sunday’s contest looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a 2-0 setback to No. 13 Georgetown, on Wednesday. Freshman Jackie Stengel has gotten off to a torrid start to her collegiate career, leading the Wolfpack in scoring with 11 points on the strength of a team-best five goals and one assist. Freshmen keepers Karly Gustafson and Mackenzie Stelljes have split time net in the early going, combining to record 14 saves, a 1.20 goals against average and two shutouts through the first five contests.

UNCW opens the home portion of its 2013 schedule next weekend as it welcomes Elon, Longwood and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to the UNCW Soccer Stadium for the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational. The Seahawks will face the Lancers and the Islanders in the two-day event, scheduled for Sept. 13 & 15.
