UNCW remained undefeated at home this season as it recorded a 1-0 victory over College of Charleston on Friday … The Seahawks are 5-0 at home in 2013 and 7-0-1 in its last eight contests at the UNCW Soccer Stadium dating back to last season … The win also extended the Seahawks undefeated streak against the Cougars to six as UNCW now holds a 7-2-1 edge in the all-time series … Senior Nicole Costa scored the only goal of the contest with a header at the 46:36 mark for her first game-winning goal of the season and the second of her career … Sophomore Katrina Guillou picked up an assist on the play, giving her points in eight of the past 10 contests … The assist also extended Guillou’s team-leading point total to 16 (6 G, 4A) … Freshman keeper Carolyn Huddy recorded her first career shutout as she made one save against the Cougars She was named CAA Rookie-of-the-Week on Monday for her efforts … She is the third UNCW player to be recognized by the league this season, joining sophomore Maddie McCormick (Player-of-the-Week/Sept. 16) and fellow newcomer Lissa Rahkola (Rookie-of-the-Week/Sept. 23) … UNCW takes to the road this weekend as it faces James Madison (Oct. 18) and William & Mary (Oct. 20) in a pair of CAA road contests.

Winners of three straight, James Madison enters Friday’s contest in third place in the league standings after posting a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Towson on Sunday at University Park … Freshman Ashley Herndon leads a balanced Dukes attack that features four players with double figure points with 13 (5 G, 3 A) … Junior Katie Hyland (4 G, 3 A) follows closely behind in second and senior Becky Sparks (3 G, 4 A) and freshman Sydney Bruaun-McLeod (3 G, 4 A) are tied for third … Sophomore Ellen Forrest has started all 15 games in goal for Head Coach David Lombardo and has four shutouts, 53 saves and a 1.19 goals against average to her credit … Friday’s contest marks the 23rd meeting between the two programs … James Madison holds a 17-5 lead in the series, but the Seahawks have won three of the last five, including a 3-1 victory at the UNCW Soccer Stadium last October.

The only remaining undefeated team in the league, William & Mary extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 1-0 victory over Towson at Albert-Daly Field on Oct. 10 … Junior Emory Camper has been the focal point of the Tribe attack this season as she leads the team with seven goals and 15 points …. Seniors Dani Rutter and Audrey Barry have combined to record nine of the team’s 15 assists with five and four helpers, respectively … Sophomore Caroline Casey has started all 12 games in goal for head coach John Daly and has recorded 54 saves, five shutouts and a 0.61 goals against average … William & Mary has won all 20 previous meetings between the two programs, including a 3-1 victory in Williamsburg last October.
