Seniors Kim Currie and Stephanie Rose have been named to the Mid-Atlantic Scholar All-Region Team by the NSCAA
WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW senior women's soccer players Kim Currie and Stephanie Rose have been named to the Mid-Atlantic Scholar All-Region Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

A native of Jacksonville, N.C., Rose was a First-Team selection while Currie, a product of Lumberton, N.C., was a Third-Team honoree.

"This award is truly a special honor as it recognizes those who exemplify the real meaning of the term 'student-athlete'," said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. "Both Kim and Stephanie are deserving of this recognition they each put the effort in, both on the field and in the classroom, to be worthy of this award. As with any individual achievement, the entire program shares in this honor; along with the faculty and staff at UNCW that have helped our student-athletes achieve their academic success."  

Recently named a First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region performer by the NSCAA, Rose earned First-Team All-CAA accolades as she led the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring with 40 points on a league-best 14 goals and a school-record 12 assists during the 2012 season. Rose ranked favorably among the nation's scoring leaders, finishing tied for 15th in points per game, 13th in assists per game and 32nd in goals per game among all Division I players.

Majoring in exercise science, Rose has compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.54. She has been recognized with the Golden Seahawk and CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll awards in each of the last two seasons.

Currie garnered Second-Team All-CAA recognition after a senior season that saw her start all 22 games. The Lumberton, N.C., product finished the season tied for third on the team in scoring with 13 points, recording four goals and adding five assists. She was named a Primetime Player by Collegesoccer360.com after earning MVP honors at the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational in September. 

An exercise science major, Currie has compiled a 3.95 cumulative GPA. She has been named to the Dean's List on four occasions.
