WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW senior forward Stephanie Rose has been named a First-Team
All- Mid-Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Rose becomes just the second player in program history to earn All-Region distinction as Megan Novak was a Third-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection following the 2009 season. "Stephanie was a big reason for our success in 2012," said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. "It is always gratifying when a senior has their most productive season as their last season. It illustrates the value of hard work and improving on a daily basis." "Our whole team shares in this honor with Stephanie," Cairney continued. "As a team endeavor, soccer is one of those sports where individuals are afforded opportunities based on what their teammates do. This is a great honor for Stephanie and our team." A native of Jacksonville, N.C., Rose was a First-Team All-CAA selection as she led the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring with 40 points on a league-best 14 goals and a school-record 12 assists. Rose ranked favorably among the nation's scoring leaders, finishing tied for 15th in points per game, 13th in assists per game and 32nd in goals per game among all Division I players. The first player in program history to earn All-CAA accolades in all four years of their career, Rose ended her time in the Port City in the top three of the program's career goals (34/3rd), assists (20/T-1st) and points (88/2nd) categories. UNCW finished the 2012 season with a 12-7-1 overall record, advancing to the title game of the CAA Women's Soccer Championship for the second time in four seasons. 2012 NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region
