WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women’s basketball program continues its long tradition of supporting the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots foundation by providing discounted ticket prices for Friday’s game against Tulane.

As part of the promotion, fans that bring a new, unwrapped toy may purchase a $3 ticket to the women's game against the Green Wave Friday at 7 p.m.

Toys for Tots was started in 1947 by Major William L. Hendricks of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. The Marine Corps adopted the program the following year and turned it into a nationwide campaign.

The mission is to collect toys during the months of October, November, and December, and distribute them to needy children in the community. The objective is to bring the joy of Christmas to America's needy children.

Fans can bring their toys to Trask Coliseum, where representatives from the Toys for Tots foundation will hand out vouchers for all donations. The vouchers can then be redeemed at the ticket window for a discounted ticket to the game.
