WILMINGTON, North Carolina - All-time women's basketball great Brittany Blackwell poured in 22 points, pulled down nine rebounds and grabbed five steals in her final home appearance to help the Seahawks equal the school's single season record for victories with a 74-56 demolition of Colonial Athletic Association rival George Mason Sunday at Trask Coliseum.

The streaking Seahawks won their fourth straight to improve to 22-6 overall and 14-3 in the CAA. GMU dropped its third in a row and fell to 12-16 and 6-11.

UNCW, tied for second in the CAA standings with Old Dominion, continued its domination of the Patriots by winning for the 17th time in the last 19 matchups against the Fairfax, Va., team and sweeping the regular season series.

Blackwell headed up four players who reached double digits in scoring for the Seahawks, who shot 53.8 percent on the day to post their 16th double digit victory of the season. The Seahawks finished unbeaten in the CAA at home with a clean 9-0 slate and closed at 12-1 overall at Trask Coliseum, second only to the unbeaten 13-0 mark fashioned by the 1983-84 club.

Blackwell, from Cary, N.C., topped the Seahawks in scoring for the 13th time this season and the 55th time in her stellar four-year career. She was complemented by junior Kristen Hanzer with 15 points, senior forward Treasure Johnson with 14 and freshman playmaker Alisha Andrews with 11 points and seven assists.

Junior guard Taleia Moton was the only GMU player in double figures with 14 points.

The Seahawks bolted out to a 43-24 advantage at halftime and remained hot in the second half. After GMU sophomore guard Amber Easter swished a three-pointer on the right wing to cut the lead to 45-29 with 18:11 left to play, senior center Martha White of UNCW keyed a 13-4 run that put the game away.

White opened the spurt with a layup at 17:42 and then added back-to-back buckets as the lead ballooned to 58-33 at 12:28. A pair of free throws by Johnson extended the lead to 60-33 at 11:22 and the rout was on.

In the first half, GMU grabbed a quick 6-5 edge before the Seahawks took control. Andrews scored on a pull-up jumper to spark a suffocating 20-0 run over a six-minute stretch that gave UNCW a 25-6 lead with 10:09 remaining in the half. Hanzer and Johnson combined for 12 points in the decisive run.

The 22 victories matches the school record held by the 1983-84 and 2002-03 teams.

The Seahawks close out the regular season on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. matchup at CAA frontrunner James Madison. The Patriots wrap up the campaign on Wednesday at home against Northeastern at 7 p.m.
