WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Second-year Head Coach Adell Harris continues to add to her roster as she announced the addition of Coastal Carolina transfer Shatia Cole on Friday.

Cole will sit out the 2013-14 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will continue her career in 2014-15 with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

“Our staff is extremely happy to add Shatia Cole to our family,” said Harris. “She comes from a winning high school program in Myrtle Beach High School. She also brings two years of valuable on court experience at the Division I level. More importantly, she’s a true point guard. I love Shatia’s toughness, competitiveness and confidence at that leadership spot. She will improve our team immediately.”

A native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Cole spent two seasons with the Chanticleers and started 42 of 55 games played. A Big-South All-Rookie Team selection in 2011-12, Cole averaged 10.0 points per game and reached double figures in 30 of those contests . She also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.0 steals per contest, ranking among the top 12 players in the league in steals per game in each of her two seasons in Conway.

Prior to joining the Chanticleers, Cole enjoyed a standout prep career at Myrtle Beach High School, helping lead the Seahawks to back-to-back South Carolina state championships as a junior and senior. A two-time All-State selection, Cole averaged 14.0 points per game over her final two seasons in guiding the squad to a 54-6 overall record in that span.
