WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW Head Coach Adell Harris continues to round out her inaugural staff as she announced the hiring of former Wake Forest staff member Jason Eshbaugh as director of Basketball Operations on Thursday.
With the Seahawks, Eshbaugh will coordinate team travel, monitor academic performance, handle scheduling of games and practices and serves as the program's community service liason. He will also assist in video editing, scouting and on-campus recruiting.
"I am extremely excited to add Jason Eshbaugh to our staff as Director of Basketball Operations," said Harris. "He has served in this position at the highest level for eight seasons and understands every aspect of running and organizing the internal operations of a program at this level. More importantly, Jason is a high-character individual that is passionate about the game of basketball and believes in our program's vision. I couldn't be happier about having him join our journey."
Eshbaugh makes his way to the Port City after eight seasons at Wake Forest, where he served as the director of player development and scouting for the 2011-12 season after handling the Director of Basketball Operations duties for the Demon Deacons program the previous seven campaigns. His responsibilities with Coach Mike Peterson's staff included game film and opposing player personal breakdowns, assisting with official recruiting visits, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the team and the scheduling of games and practices. He also played a key role in the development of content for the Wake Forest women's basketball recruiting website.
Eshbaugh joined the Demon Deacons from Kentucky, where he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Wildcat women's basketball program. His duties at Kentucky included film exchange and video scouting.
Prior to his time at Kentucky, Eshbaugh spent one season as the assistant coach for the varsity men's basketball team at Mercer Area High School, in Mercer, Pa.
"I'm excited to be joining the UNCW women's basketball program as its director of operations," said Eshbaugh. "I look forward to working with Coach Harris and the rest of the staff as we look to take the women's basketball program at UNCW to the next level."
A native of Mercer, Pa., Eshbaugh received his undergraduate degree in business management from Grove City College before earning his master's degree in sports management from Kentucky.
