Veteran assistant coach Kim Tingley is in her first season as an assistant coach with the women's basketball program at UNCW.

Tingley is responsible for recruiting, scouting and game day preparation and player development. She also assists with camps and clinics.

"I'm excited about Kim joining our staff," said UNCW Head Coach Adell Harris. "We've added a passionate, tireless worker that believes in UNCW women's basketball.  From her experiences as a player at the University of Delaware to her experience as an assistant coach at Manhattan, Seton Hall & Kennesaw State, I feel Kim is the right fit for our program."

Tingley joined the Seahawks program from Kennesaw State, where she spent one year as an assistant coach and served as interim head coach following the retirement of head coach Colby Tilley at the end of the season. In her lone campaign with the Owls, Tingley helped the program record its first Atlantic Sun Tournament victory and played a key role in the development of Atlantic Sun Conference Rookie-of-the-Year Taylor Mills.

"I'm truly excited to be joining the Seahawk family as a member of Coach Harris' inaugural staff, said Tingley. "UNCW has enjoyed unprecedented success the last two seasons and the pieces are in place to take this program to the next level. I am also thrilled for the opportunity to return and compete in the Colonial Athletic Association."

Prior to her time in Georgia, Tingley spent four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Seton Hall. Tingley was responsible for signing a pair of All-Big East Freshman Team selections and also had a recruiting class ranked in the Top 25.

Tingley began her coaching career as an assistant at Robert Morris in 2002-03 before moving to Manhattan. In three seasons with the Jaspers, Tingley was responsible for recruiting two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team members.  In addition, Tingley monitored the academic progress of the women's basketball student-athletes, helping the program receive a No. 13 ranking in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Academic Team Honor Roll for the 2004-05.

A native of Coudersport, Penn., Tingley is no stranger to the Colonial Athletic Association. She began her career at West Virginia before transferring to Delaware. Tingley helped the Blue Hens capture the 2001 America East Conference championship and earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament. In UD's first season in the CAA in 2002, the Blue Hens advanced to the Postseason WNIT.

A two-time Dean's List honoree at Delaware, Tingley graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Recreation and Park Management in 2002.
