WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks host future Colonial Athletic Association member and longtime rival Elon tonight in a 6 p.m. start. The Phoenix will officially join the CAA in July following stint in the Southern Conference.

UNCW (19-19) is coming off a rain-shortened sweep of defending CAA champion Towson. The Seahawks opened the series with an 11-2 win on Friday before seeing Saturday’s game rained out. The two clubs concluded the series with an 11-8 Seahawk win on Sunday.

Elon (25-15) captured a series win against Appalachian State with a 6-2 win on Friday but dropped the second game on Saturday, 10-4. The Phoenix rallied in the series finale for a 4-2 win.

Senior lefthander Mat Batts and sophomore infielder Steven Linkous were named CAA Pitcher and Co-Player-of-the-Week on Monday. Batts earned his third straight win on Friday, allowing one unearned run on two hits over eight innings. Linkous, meanwhile, hit .778 for the week, including .875 against Towson, with five runs batted in and four scored.

Tonight’s game will be the final of the annual home-and-home series. Elon edged the Seahawks, 3-2, in Elon earlier this season.

Prior to this evening’s game, the UNCW Athletics Department will recognize the men’s and women’s tennis programs and the men’s swimming and diving programs for winning conference titles. The tennis programs will learn their destinations for the NCAA later this month.
