WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW hosts Towson for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. The Seahawks look to rebound from their first home CAA series loss since 2011 after falling in 2-of-3 to Hofstra last weekend.

Towson entered the 2014 season as the defending CAA champions after capturing the tournament last spring and advancing to the NCAA tournament. The Tigers stand at 1-5 in the league after dropping their series at Northeastern last weekend.

The Seahawks dropped a midweek tilt at East Carolina, 8-5, in the finale of the annual home-and-home series which was cut to one game following rain on Tuesday. UNCW carries a three-game losing skid into the series.

Friday night starter Mat Batts, who leads the CAA in strikeouts, ranks third among active strikeout leaders in the NCAA with 300. NC State’s Carlos Rodon leads the list with 391 and Aaron Nola, of LSU, has 301 after striking out seven last night against Ole Miss. Batts ranks fourth all-time at UNCW with 273 strikeouts as a Seahawk.

Nick Monroe (1-3) and Ryan Foster round out UNCW’s rotation this weekend. Towson will counter with Chris Acker (2-2), Bruce Zimmerman (4-3) and Lee Lawlor (2-2).
