Nick Monroe, RHP, Sophomore, Mebane, N.C./Eastern Alamance

- Monroe tossed his first complete game, shutout and missed a perfect game with a one-out single in the ninth against Liberty in an 11-0 shellacking of the defending Big South Champions. Monroe struck out four and ended the game with a line drive double play, enabling him to face the minimum 27 batters for the game. He needed just 92 pitches to toss the gem. UNCW’s last 1-hitter was fashioned by Brad Holt in 2008 at Northeastern, it was a 7-inning game.

Rooke-of-the-Week Nominee

- Golden started three of four games for the Seahawks in the outfield and responded with an even .500 batting average, going 7-for-14. He posted a slugging percentage of .857 and an on base average of .563. Golden tripled twice, doubled and scored a team-high six runs on the weekend. He stole two bases and fielded all 10 chances in centerfield flawlessly. He’s in the midst of a modest four-game hitting streak.
