WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW returns to Brooks Field this weekend when it hosts the Buffalo Wild Wings Battle at the Beach with Liberty and Ohio. The weekend’s games begin on Friday at noon with Ohio and Liberty followed by UNCW and Liberty at 4 p.m.

The Seahawks opened the season with a win over VMI last Friday, but stumbled in its other games, dropping a 10-4 decision to Kentucky and a posting a 7-2 setback against top-ranked Virginia.

Liberty enters the weekend looking to rebound from a 7-4 loss to in-state rival Old Dominion in mid-week action. The Flames, who are in their seventh season under the direction of Head Coach Jim Toman, opened at Mercer and went 1-2 last weekend.

Ohio returns to Brooks Field for the first time since 2012 when it lost a series to the eventual CAA Champion Seahawks in the opening series for both teams. The Bobcats, who are in their second season under Head Coach Rob Smith, carry a 1-1 mark into the weekend after splitting a doubleheader at Murray State last weekend.

Senior lefhthander Mat Batts will make his second start of the season on Friday against Liberty, the defending Big South Conference champions. Junior righthander Jordan Ramsey will then start on Saturday against Ohio followed by sophomore righthanders Evan Phillips and Nick Monroe on Sunday against Ohio and Liberty, respectively.

Following the weekend’s festivities, UNCW will embark on a five-game road swing beginning at Elon on Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.
