WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Jack Lane tossed three innings of shutout relief as Blue jumped out t oa 3-0 lead in the Blue-Teal World Series on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Teal at Brooks Field.

Lane (1-0) earned the win in relief of Blue junior starter Ricky Holden. Holden allowed two runs on four hits and three walks in three innings of work. Sophomore Ryan Mayhew struck out one in a perfect inning of relief for his second save of the series.

With the game tied at 2-all in the fourth, senior outfielder Tyler Molinaro broke the deadlock with a homer to right center off Teal senior starter Justin Livengood (0-2). The second run of the frame scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2.

Livengood suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks. He struck out six in five innings.

Blue opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a fielding error, but Teal drew even in the top of the second on a RBI single by freshman Andy Austin.

In the third both sides scored runs as the game remained tied. Teal's Luis Renvill banged a RBI double and freshman Terence Connelly tied the game with sacrifice fly for Blue.

Renvill and freshman Alex Pernick both had two hits for Teal.

The series resumes on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
